| Western Canada Classic - Prince George July 2-3, 2005 | Grand Opening Prince George Horseshoe Club Facility. The City of Prince George is pleased to announce the opening of the Prince George Horseshoe Club facility in Carrie Jane Gray Park. His Worship will throw the first shoe into the newly constructed facility on Thursday June 30th at 2:30pm. The Prince George Horseshoe Club was moved from their location at Recreation Place as part of the Recreation Place Relocation Plan that was approved in 2001. At that time the City met with all of the effected groups at Recreation Place and looked at several options for moving the recreation facilities and determined that moving the club to Carrie Jane Gray Park would work well for both the users and the existing park use at Carrie Jane Gray Park.
The Horseshoe Club was originally at Fort George Park with 6 pitches, moved to Recreation Place in the early 90's where the club built a clubhouse and 25 pitches and now has a brand new facility with 30 pitches at Carrie Jane Gray Park. The facility is one of the nicest in BC and will host the Western Canadian Classics July 2nd and 3rd 2005.
