Walter's horseshoe pitching career began the early 1970's

Walter's Record:
B.C. Mens Provincial Champion 1977 (59.7%), 1980 (61.5%), 1999 (55.4%), 2000 (57.2%), and 2001 (63.0%)
Walter finished 2nd 5times in the Men's Provincial Championships, 1990, 1993, 1997, 2002 and 2004
6 times he finished 3rd 1978, 1985, 1991, 1992, 1998, and 2005.
5 times he finished 4th 1981, 1986, 1989, 1994 and 1996
Twice Walter finished 5th. 1979 and 1982

Walter won the BC International Men's Class twice, 1995 (56.7%) and 2003 (53.5%), finished 2nd two times, 1986 and 2002, third in 1981 and 5th in 1980

At the Canadian Championship Class Walter finished 4th in 2000 and 1980, 8th in 1986 and 15th in 2002. Walter won the Men's B Class at the Canadian in 1982 (65.7%)
