Bernie Lepper

Bernie goes back to the 1960's when he started playing horseshoes in Stanley Park. At the time the club was called The Stanley Park Horseshoe Club
In 1962 the Greater Vancouver Horseshoe Pitchers Association was formed and the following year, 1963 this association was officially affiliated with the NHPA and most members in Canada at that time were from BC and Ontario. The secretary to the NHPA from 1963-1970 was Bernie Lepper
Bernie was one of the founding fathers of the BCHA. The first meeting to organize the BCHA was held in 1970 in Vancouver at Stan Pachota's residence who was a member of the Greater Vancouver Horseshoe Club
Bernie was the 1st Secretary/Tressurer, news editor and statistician. Bernie with the assistance of the other board members found grants that we could apply for.
Bernie along with other executive members saw to it that the Canadian Championsips continued when Horseshoe Canada was having problems.
Over the years Bernie has been President of the Central Park Horseshoe Club where under his leadership the membership more than doubbled. He later was also the President of the North Shore Horseshoe Club
Bernie has accomplished a lot for the good of horseshoes. He was always willing to assist others and give guidance when needed
In his days Bernie was a pretty good horsehoe pitcher as well; his average was in the 40-45% range.
Today, Bernie still plays the game as an Elder andhe lives in Winfield.
We are proud to have Bernie Inducted into the BCHA Hall Of Fame.
